Dunstone Gordon Professional

Terry Gordon’s face vice is one of the most exciting innovations we have seen in bench vices. The unique barrel mechanism and the use of aircraft grade aluminium is a game changer as far as face vices go. Terry’s wonderful tail vice has been around for a number of years and is a well proven design. This bench is aimed at the commercial maker rather than the woodworking enthusiast. The composite bamboo top is hard, flat and unmoving. The 70mm thick top has no skirt, so you have plenty of clean surfaces to clamp off. The flush fronted rock maple legs are simple and strong, with ample opportunity to add a deadman or to build in storage. The deep 800mm top allows for glue ups of chair and cabinets. The bench pictured is 1600mm long by 800mm deep and has an overhang at the back so that it can also be used as a drawing table. We expect to build this design to your specifications. This is the ideal bench for teaching workshops and schools.

Terry Gordon brings a wealth of woodworking knowledge to everything he does. Like the team at Dunstone Design, he uses his workbench every day as a tool of his trade. One of the beauties of this configuration is that it can be made with a set of hardware on the opposite side, making a two person bench idea for teaching environments.

We expect to custom build these benches. Tell us what size is ideal for you and we will make the bench you want. North American work benches are usually sold with round holes pre-drilled for holdfasts. We have found that our Australian customers prefer to drill their own holes for holdfasts and other such fittings (no two woodworkers ever seem to agree on the number, diameter or location of holes!). Just as it is easy to add salt, but hard to take it away, who wants an unnessesary hole in a workbench? Unless specifically requested, our benches do not feature pre drilled holes.

When ordering a work bench, please consult with Evan ( about the perfect height for your workbench. Please also specifiy if you want a right or a left hand configuration.

When ordering a work bench, please allow up to 8 weeks for delivery; we typically build these benches to order. Be aware that shipping workbenches can be an expensive business so brace yourself for the quote. There is no cheap and easy way to ship a 180kg work bench!
