Used Werriwa Lounge Suite

The Werriwa is one of our best loved designs; it’s superbly comfortable, beautifully crafted, looks “right” and is easy to alight from! The judges at the 2009 Furniture Industry Association of Australia's "Australian Furniture of the Year Awards" were unanimous in their praise for the Werriwa, awarding it "Excellence in Furniture Using Leather". The Werriwa was also awarded Open Champion at the Sydney Timber and Working with Wood Show in 2006 for craftsmanship and design. The Werriwa is made in our Queanbeyan workshop by Australian craftsmen who are committed to excellence. The upholstery is done by local company Smart Upholstery using the leather colour of your choice. We have this pre-loved set of Werriwas (two singles and a double) in Victorian blackwood with Paloma "Lord Bordo" leather available as a set. The chairs were made in 2007 and are in pristine condition. The client is downsizing and must reluctantly part with her Werriwas. The chairs are currently in St. Ives, Sydney, but can be transported to Canberra. This setting would normally cost $17,490 new. The owner is asking $11,000 for the set. Email me on for more information or to arrange an inspection..

These Werriwas feature the "old" style slatted seat support.  This style was particularly suited to people with bad backs who need firm support.

The Werriwa Lounge was designed in 2005 and has been in small batch production ever since. We carry limited stock of finished frames (see the online store) and usually build to order. We have made Werriwas for clients in blackwood, jarrah, red gum, red stringybark, white oak and American walnut.

Dimensions: 1050mm H x 800mm D (footprint) x 650mm W
Timber Types: Victorian blackwood with Paloma "Lordo Bordo" leather.
“I have always loved show-wood lounges. Fred Lowen of Fler [and later Tessa] is one of my favourite designers and he was a master of the form. The construction logic of the Werriwa is quite different from those classic 50’s, 60’s and 70’s designs, but I admit the aesthetic is just a little retro. Your back will love you for this chair.” Evan Dunstone.
